Kansei runs on your computer. Your code, prompts, model responses, and API keys never touch our servers. We do not run marketing analytics or crash reporting; account-backed features use only the content-free service metadata needed for licensing, cloud coordination, and your usage view.
01 Our approach #
Most software sends your data to the cloud. Kansei does the opposite: it runs as a desktop application, and inference goes straight from your machine to the AI providers you connect. We designed it so that the most sensitive things — your source code, your prompts, your provider keys — never need to reach us at all.
This policy describes the limited data we do handle, and applies to the Kansei desktop app, the mobile companion, and the kansei.sh website.
02 What we collect #
We keep collection to the minimum needed to run the service. Here's the full picture:
03 What stays on your machine #
Your code, prompts, agent transcripts, and provider keys are stored locally and never transmitted to Uplift Security.
Kansei keeps your working data in local storage and your operating system's secure keychain. Sessions, agent conversations, project paths, and the contents of every inference request remain on your device and travel only between your machine and the providers you explicitly connect.
04 How we use data #
We use the limited data we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and secure your Kansei account and Pro subscription.
- Operate account-backed licensing, cloud coordination, and your usage view using content-free metadata.
- Process payments and send service-related communications.
- Keep the service secure and reliable, and investigate problems, using limited operational logs.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, we do not use your code or prompts to train models, and we do not run visitor analytics or behavioral tracking.
05 Connected providers #
When you connect an AI provider — such as Anthropic, OpenAI, or a local model — Kansei sends inference requests directly from your machine to that provider using your own credentials. Those requests are governed by the provider's privacy policy, not ours. We never act as an intermediary for, log, or store the contents of those requests. Account-backed features may record content-free provider/model/token totals for your Kansei usage view.
06 Sharing & disclosure #
We share the limited data we hold only in these circumstances:
07 Data retention #
We retain account, billing, and service metadata for as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal, accounting, security, and abuse-prevention obligations. Operational logs and backup archives are kept for limited windows and then deleted. Because your working data lives on your machine, you control its retention directly; local telemetry follows the app's local retention settings.
08 How we protect data #
We apply industry-standard safeguards to the data we hold, including encryption in transit, scoped access controls, and regular review. On your device, provider keys are stored in the operating system's secure keychain rather than in plain text. No system is perfectly secure, but local-first architecture means there is far less of your data anywhere to protect.
09 Your rights & choices #
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to certain processing. We extend these choices to all users regardless of location:
- Access & deletion — request a copy or removal of the account data we hold. Self-service export and deletion are manual support workflows at launch.
- No marketing tracking — there's no visitor analytics or behavioral advertising to opt out of; required account, licensing, and usage-metering metadata is part of providing the service.
- Billing controls — Pro billing actions are handled through the Stripe Customer Portal when billing is enabled for your account.

10 Children's privacy #
Kansei is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

When this policy is approved for launch, this page will show a final version and effective date. Later material changes will update that effective date and, where appropriate, be announced in the app.
